Shaikh Chilli Syndrome
Shaikhchilli once was ordered by his wife to collect some wood from the jungle. With his axe he went straight to the jungle, by the time he reached jungle he was hungry, to his surprise he saw a huge mango tree laden with ripened mangoes standing some distance from him.
Without any delay he started eating mangoes and in no time he was full and satisfied. He was so full, he started feeling sleepy, he thought of lying down under the same tree for a while. He woke up after some time and remembered that he was ordered to get some wood back from the jungle.
It took no time for him to think of cutting the same tree under which we was lying down. Since the mango tree was huge, he had to climb to cut one of the branches. The moment he cut the branch the branch fell down with Shaikhchilli sitting on it. He felled down from a good height and it really hurt, it was paining a lot.
Learning from the Story
- Just like shaikhchilli, so many times we cut down the very branches in our life and business which have been giving us fruits, warmth, learning’s etc. the very essence of our needs, sometimes knowingly and most of the times unknowingly. I have seen most of MSME business owner’s journey full of successes and then failures and then successes. This can be seen as zigzag journey in long run if looked from above. This happened majorly because of Shaikhchilli syndrome. Lots of things work for us in Business and life but we don’t write it down, after some time we tend to forget what has been working for us and we go back to our old ways. Write down what has been and what is working for you always and keep visiting it again and again, keep doing it to avoid Shaikhchilli Syndrome.
- Be grateful to those who have been helpful to you. The best attitude one can nurture in self is of *Attitude of Gratitude*
Questions to ask self
- What has been working for me in business as well as life?
- What is working now for me?
- How can I make sure that I keep writing and revisiting what’s working list in regular intervals.
- What is that, who are they and how can I express my gratitude to that and them who have been helpful to me?
