Story- Choose your Clients carefully baba

One day a business owner son asked his father, how can I increase the value of our business? Instead of answering directly father gave his son a piece of rock and told him to go to market to sell it. He told him when someone asks for price, don’t say anything; just raise 2 fingers.
Once the son reached to market a lady asked him, how much for this stone? I would like to keep it in my garden. He just raised 2 fingers. Lady said 2 Dollars? I would buy it.
Son did not give it to her and came straight back to home and narrated what happened to his father.
Father told him now to go to museum and try selling the rock and repeat the same thing. Just raise 2 fingers.
One man wanted to buy his rock at museum, he asked for price, son raised 2 fingers. Man asked 200 Dollars? I will take it.
He was shocked but still did not sell it and came back home and narrated the whole story to his father.
Now father wanted him to go to Jeweler’s Market and try selling it. He reminded him not to tell the price but to raise 2 fingers.
As ordered son went to jeweller’s market for selling it. One of the jeweller asked surprisingly Where did you get that stone? It is one of the rarest piece of Gem. I would like to buy it, how much for this? Son again did not say anything and raised 2 fingers. Jeweller said 200,000 Dollars? I will still buy it.
Son was in utter shock he came back running home and narrated the whole incident.
Father asked him, “Son did you get your answer now?”
Learning from the story
1. The value of our business lies in the Customer Segment we choose to serve by selling our products and services.
2. Only the right customer segment will value your unique solution (USP) and will be willing to pay premium for it.
Questions to ask ourselves
1.What is my right customer segment?
2.What is my USP for them?
3.How can I find my right customer segment?
