At the bottom of the lake there was a colony of insects and every now and then they could see one of the insects climbing the lotus stock reaching to the surface of the pond and disappeared. they really didn’t know what was happening. One day they all decided to meet at one place and took a pledge that one of them would go up the pond surface and return back to tell everyone what exactly is happening to their friends when they reach at the surface of the pond.
The insect who came up with this idea decided to go up, he climbed up lotus stock and reached the surface, rested for a while on Lotus leaf. It went under the process of metamorphosis and eventually became a dragon fly. (just like how a caterpillar becomes butterfly).
It flapped its wings and started flying and truly feeling on top of the world. Every now and then the dragonfly would come back to the Lotus leaf and rest. In one of the resting times, Dragonfly accidentally looked under the water and realized that he has a promise to keep, it has to go back to the bottom of the lake and tell his friends what had happened to him.
The moment it tried to touch the water to go back it had 4 profound realizations; these realizations are not only for the dragonfly, it applies to us as well.
Realizations from the story
1. Now that I have become a dragonfly, even if I want, I cannot go back to where I have come from. I have transformed from a insect to a Dragonfly. Transformation is transformation when I cannot go back to my old ways. (Permanent change)
2. Even if somehow I will reach there, in my new form my old world will not be able to recognize me and understand me. I need to leave my past and look forward. This is the price I need to pay to move up in my life.
3. If I had not chosen to give up the comfort zone of being an insect, I would have never become a dragonfly.
4. If I keep flying as a dragonfly, one day some of those insects will get inspired by the life I live and will also get transformed in to dragon fly.
Questions to ask ourselves
1. How can I transform myself and my business?
2. What is that comfort zone in need to leave to Transform?
3. How can I (What do I need to do to) inspire others to transform?
