Story- Simplicity is power
40 years back in Gujrat; there was a factory getting built but they were facing one big challenge. One huge machine was supposed to be planted in a 30 feet deep pit. Since the machine was very heavy they found very difficult to move it.
Somehow machine was brought to the site but putting it in a 30 feet dip pit was really a difficult task since those days heavy lifts
⛩ were not easily available. A small mistake would have caused damage to the foundation and machine itself.
Looking at all these challenges company which was entrusted to building the plant decided to call for tender to get help from outside vendors. Every vendor who submitted the tender quoted 25 to 30 lacks for this job; this was big amount those days. Since every vendor had to rent a very high capacity crane for the job they had to factor in that cost and time while quoting.
Amongst all these vendors; one vendor was shrewd; he actually understood the real requirements by asking very specific questions;
he understood whether machines will malfunction if it gets wet or submerged in water and the answer he got was NO.
After clarifications,he quoted 15 lacks and committed not more than 1 day for this job whereas others have committed at least 15 days.
Naturally, he got this job with our divulging his methodology of operation.
On the D day, everyone was waiting for this magic to get unfolded; one after other trucks full of ice started reaching to the site and his men started putting ice slabs in a pit. Within an hour the pit was full of ice. His men then pushed the machine with the help of wooden logs on the ice. Once the machine was at height position they started sucking water out from the pit using pumps. As time passed ice started melting and the machine started going down and reached to its intended place the way they wanted.
The whole project was completed in 4-5 hours and with the cost of mere 1 lack rupees. In just one day he had earned 14 lacks worth of profit.
