Beautiful Story narrated by Gurudev Yogiraj Amar Jyoti ji to Guruji Prem Nirmal and Guruma Bharti Nirmal

There was once a king who was very fond of hawks. All the people in his kingdom knew this. So one day someone gifted him a pair of baby hawks. King felt extremely happy to see those beautiful healthy birdies.

He called for the best trainer to take care and train those hawks. The trainer started his job and very carefully took care of the diet, health and training of those hawks. Finally they grew into handsome, sharp and intelligent birds. So one day the king called the trainer and told him that next day would be a testing day for both the hawks and the trainer should display the skills learnt by both the birds. Next day king was there with all his fellowmen.

The trainer signalled at both the birds to fly high in the sky. Both flapped their wings with vigour and soared into the open sky. King was very happy …The birds had reached a fairly good height. King was just thinking that they would now hunt and come back… But oh! Suddenly one of the birds returned back and decided not to fly. He straight went to its usual branch on the huge tree and sat there. The trainer was instructing that hawk to fly high but it was not ready to listen to those instructions!

The king was disappointed. He felt when both the hawks were given every best thing that was possible, both were trained equally well by the same trainer… then why should one of them refuse to fly high? Finally he made an open announcement in his kingdom that whoever is able to make that other hawk fly high and hunt, would be suitably rewarded.

All the experts came and tried but none succeeded. One day a simple farmer came and did something and lol! The bird soared high up in the sky and disappeared. King was amazed. He asked that farmer what did he do that no one else could do to make the bird fly? The reply of the farmer was simple. He said, “I simply cut that big branch of the tree on which the bird would always sit. the bird returned back to sit there and saw that His branch was missing; so it flew back high up in the sky.”

Learning from the story
We all are like that other hawk! We are very happy being in our cozy comfort zone. Each one of us has so much potential but we refuse to explore that. We are too used to our own branch and the creature comforts of it.
Challenges come to us to move ourselves out of comfort zone.

Questions to ask ourself

  1. what is my Branch (comfortzone) which is not letting me fly high?
  2. what can I achieve if I get out of my comfort zone?
  3. what empowering meaning can I give to the challenge which has come to me?
